CEO Forum to Feature U.S. Manufacturing Czar

Michigan manufacturers will be afforded the opportunity to discuss industry priorities and share concerns directly with the U.S. Manufacturing Czar, Ron Bloom, at the 2010 MMA CEO Forum presented by the Michigan Manufacturers Association on Monday, May 10.

As President Obama’s Senior Counselor for Manufacturing Policy, Bloom has been given the responsibility for providing leadership on policy development and strategic planning for the President’s agenda to revitalize the manufacturing sector. He works with departments and agencies across the Administration — including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, Energy and Labor — to integrate existing programs and develop new initiatives affecting the manufacturing sector. He also serves as Senior Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury assigned to the President’s Task Force on the Automotive Industry.

In being named to the post last September, Mr. Bloom said, “A strong manufacturing sector is a cornerstone of American competitiveness and a critical part of President Obama’s economic strategy. As we meet the challenges of globalization and technological change, it is vital to have a concerted effort across the Administration to support an innovative, vibrant manufacturing sector.”

Participants at MMA’s CEO Forum will learn more about this strategy and be able to provide input on what manufacturers want and need most to compete in the global marketplace. This must-attend event is the highlight of Michigan Manufacturing Week. The program will kick-off with a keynote address by Mr. Bloom, followed by presentation of the John G. Thodis Michigan Manufacturer of the Year Awards by MMA President and CEO Chuck Hadden. An afternoon of inspiring sessions led by industry experts will round out this year’s extraordinary program.

The MMA CEO Forum will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Henry Center for Executive Development in Lansing.

CEO Forum attendees will receive complimentary admission to attend the MMA Legislative and Executive Reception which will take place the following evening, May 11, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Country Club of Lansing. The cost to attend both programs is $125 for MMA members and $250 for nonmembers.
