Treasury Posts Services Tax Forms

In preparation for the potential implementation of the services tax on 12/1/07, the Michigan Department of Treasury has posted the forms and instructions for the tax on its Web site.

Because the House and Senate abruptly ended negotiations 11/28/07 on repeal of the ill-conceived services tax, MMA is urging all members to contact Michigan’s legislative leaders, Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop (517-373-2417, SenMBishop@senate.michigan.gov), Speaker of the House Andy Dillon (517-373-0857, andydillon@house.mi.gov), House Minority Leader Craig DeRoche (517-373-0827, craigderoche@house.mi.gov) and/or Senate Minority Leader Mark Schauer (517-373-2426, SenMSchauer@senate.michigan.gov), to voice your concerns about the tax and the need to replace it before its full implementation.

The Treasury department is planning to mail updated 2008 Sales, Use and Withholding (SUW) Tax instruction booklets and forms to business taxpayers but is holding the mailing until the future of the tax is clear. Treasury has also delayed a special mailing of updated forms and instructions to monthly and quarterly SUW filers.
